Volavola enjoying learning curve

September 25, 2015 4:58 am

Vodafone Flying Fijians fly half, Ben Volavola says he is learning more each day playing in the Rugby World Cup and despite setbacks; his aim is to become better in each game.

The former Australia Under-20 rep scored a try in Fiji’s 28-13 loss to the Wallabies and knows expectations are high for him to maintain a consistent performance.

“It was sweet scoring a try although we wanted to win the match, I am very proud of that moment. I think I just have to concentrate on myself. People have their own opinions and they are entitled to their own opinions. I wasn’t quite happy with my game against England and just had to do my homework and improve on that. Although we couldn’t beat Australia, I felt I improved a bit more.”

Volavola’s performance has justified coach, John McKee’s decision to name him in the starting line-up ahead of the experienced Josh Matavesi.
