Verevou asked to pay fine first

The Fiji Football Association will consider including suspended striker Iosefo Verevou in the national Under-20 side for the World Cup, once he pays his fine.

Verevou was fined $3360 and suspended from all levels of football until next June for breaking camp while with the Fiji Under-20 side in May.

Fiji FA chief executive Bob Kumar says Verevou’s district Rewa wrote a letter to the governing body on 5th and 12th December seeking reconsideration on Verevou’s suspension and for him to be included in the national team for the World Cup.

He says the Fiji FA Board of Control discussed the issue at length at its last board meeting and resolved that since there is already a ruling of the Fiji FA Arbitration Tribunal, that player must pay the imposed fine before playing any level of football.

He adds therefore the player should first pay his fine before the Board of Control will consider the request in consultation with the Arbitration Tribunal.
