Weightlifting Fiji’s veteran lifer Apolonia Vaivai has continued to impress after lifting a massive career best of 222 kilos during the first national Team Fiji trials for the Commonwealth Championships, Asian Indoor Games, World Championships and Pacific Mini Games.

The 26-year-old took part in the 69kg and lifted 100kg in the Snatch and 122kilos in the Clean and Jerk.

Vaivai’s lift matches the Oceania record for the 69kg category set in 2000 by an Australian lifter.
