The Southern division Under-16 football side has started preparing to take on the visiting academy team from Australia in September.

The side is made up of players from Rewa, Navua, Nasinu and Suva schools that competed at the recent Secondary Schools IDC.

Coach Shalen Lal says this will help the Fiji Football Association in the long run.

“Now we have got a structure for Fiji football. We getting the players from the Centre of excellence and the development centers. We need more time for preparing this team (future Under 17’s). We already have been to the World Cup and we know what it takes to make it to the World Cup.”

Similar camps are expected to be set up in the Western and Northern divisions.
The boys will face the Australian side on the 26th of September.
