U17 national football team departs for UEFA tournament

The U17 men’s Vodafone Fiji Football team have been asked to play with pride at the upcoming UEFA U17 Development Tournament in Israel which starts.

National Head Coach Christophe Gamel says the team has prepared well for the tournament however it will all come down to the matches.

Gamel says this will be a good exposure for the U17 team as they will be playing against top teams.

“We need to fail to reach our target, it’s like that you win a game, you lose a game, you draw a game but you continue working until you are at the top and when you are at the top you need to stay at the top, you cannot be at the top one day and down the next, you have to stay there.”

U17 captain Sikeli Tovilo believes the team has prepared well for the tournament.

The Tavua College student is also calling on Fijians living in Israel to come out and show their support.

The team will depart today.

Fiji plays Ukraine in their first match next Monday, they meet Ireland on next Wednesday before playing hosts Israel on Friday next week.
