The Ministry for Youth and Sports has welcomed its share of the 2016 National Budget.

The ministry has a wide scope with which to focus its finances towards in the New Year and a big effort will be on the road to the Rio Olympic Games next year.

“In my sports portfolio, is that the main component of this increase is to meet Government’s efforts to support the development of sports in the country and our national teams participation in overseas sporting tournaments; particularly in the preparation and participation of Team Fiji in the Rio Olympic Games. For once in the history of sport in Fiji, we have a real chance at an Olympic gold medal.”

The Ministry for Youth and Sports was allocated $22.5 million for 2016.
