Top level competition expected at President's Cup

November 10, 2014 5:50 pm

The influx of players who have featured at the top most level will boost the competition level at the inaugural OFC President’s Cup.

This is the comment made by OFC Media and Communications Manager, Gordon Glen Watson, as the build-up to the tournament continues.

He says players like former New Zealand international Ian Hogg, who will be playing for Vanuatu club, Amicale, will be interesting to watch.

“The players who have been there and done that. If you look at Ian Hogg in particular, the guy has played for the All Whites and at an Olympic Games against the likes of Neymar and he has played professional football. Fiji Under-20 will be up against a very good Amicale side, their recruitment policy that Andrew Leong has employed.”

The Fiji U20 will be playing Amicale in its opening match at the President’s Cup on November 17 in New Zealand at 7.30pm.

The second pool match is against Busaiteen of Bahrain on November 21 at 7.30pm.

You can catch live commentaries of Fiji’s matches on Radio Fiji Two with the voice of soccer, Raymond Stoddart.
