Thorn ready to face the challenge

February 28, 2018 5:30 pm

Brad Thorn has called on more of his young guns to replace suspended Queensland Reds pair Scott Higginbotham and Lukhan Tui in their Super Rugby clash with the Brumbies.

Impact forwards Higginbotham and Tui were each slapped with three-week bans by the SANZAAR judiciary for dangerous conduct in last week’s heavy loss to the Melbourne Rebels.

Thorn says he has the young players who can step up and do the job.

“We have lost Scott Higginbotham so we have to pick mainly from our extended squad. The player in the team have played in the competitive rugby so its sort of easy to do selection.”

In the Super rugby matches this weekend, the Blues will take on the Chiefs at 6.35pm tomorrow and the Reds will then meet the Brumbies at 9pm.

On Saturday, Sunwolves battles the Rebels at 9pm.

On Sunday, the Sharks will meet Waratahs at 1.05am, Bulls meets Lions at 3.15am while the Hurricanes take on the Jaguares at 9.40am.
