Teams step up for Valerie Daveta tourney

June 6, 2012 12:00 am

Seven men and five women’s teams will feature in the 19th Valerie Daveta Memorial tournament at the National Hockey Centre in Suva this weekend.

Suva Hockey Association president, Shaun Corrie says with huge improvements shown from most teams, competition is expected to be tough.

“Every year the teams keep improving because of the standard of hockey and exposure to international competitions. Earlier this year we had the Australian Masters come over, the guys and the women have been in training from early this year, so this year’s tournament is going to be quite tough.”
