July 5, 2019 4:07 pm

Winning medals or qualifying for the Olympic Games are not the only targets for Team Fiji at the Pacific Games in Samoa.

They have another issue in mind which they plan to address at the 2019 Games which officially opens on Sunday.

Team Fiji Chef De Mission Patrick Bower says littering is a major worry in any major sporting event.

He says back at home this is evident during Chow Games, Coca Cola Games and even the Fiji Secondary School rugby Deans but Fiji will start somewhere at the Pacific Games in creating awareness on littering.

Meanwhile, about 80 Team Fiji athletes and officials were part of the first wave who left Fiji this morning including the Women’s football side, Men’s team led by Roy Krishna and Archery’s Robert Elder.

More than 200 athletes and officials left in the last hour as part of Team Fiji’s second wave.

At 8:30am tomorrow Team Fiji will raise their flag in a special ceremony at Samoa’s Government House.
