The Fiji men’s and women’s volleyball teams will not be participating in this year’s Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea.

In a statement, Team Fiji Chef de Mission Cathy Wong says the decision was made due to certain circumstances.

FBC Sports understands that a major factor in the decision was the Fiji Volleyball Federation’s inability to raise enough money for the team levies.

The national women’s side won a silver medal at the last Pacific Games in 2011 while the men finished in fifth place.

The Pacific Games will be held in PNG on July 4th to the 18th.
