Twenty six athletes will carry the nation’s hopes at the Youth Olympic Games in China.
Team Fiji flew out of the country this morning and will be represented in 7s rugby, girls hockey, athletics, swimming and weightlifting.
Fiji hockey coach Tai Smith says the team is lined up against formidable opponents in the pool stages.
“I think Netherlands might prove to be the strongest but that is not undermining Argentina, South Africa or Japan. The girls believe in themselves. It’s just about who uses their head right on the day. I’m very confident with the girl’s performance.”
The Youth Olympic Games begins on Saturday.
