Fiji sailing rep, Salote Taylor is counting down the days to her first event in the Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea.

The mother of one, who will be competing in the laser event, says she hopes to do more than just aim for a podium finish against the best sailors in the region.

“To go to the Pacific Games for me is not just about winning the gold medal and coming home with a bit of jewellery. It’s about the young lives that you inspire while you are out there, so that is the aim for me. Not to just inspire my son, but also inspire the young children in the country.”
