Tavua officials deny allegations

The Tavua football team has denied the match manipulation allegations leveled against them during the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants pool match against Labasa two weeks ago.

Tavua football officials told FBC Sports that its really unprofessional of a team like Lautoka to lodge a complaint after they lost to Labasa 5-nil in the BOG group match.

Fiji FA Chief Executive, Mohammed Yusuf,says they received a complaint and have set up a committee to investigate the matter.

“It’s not match fixing, its called a possible match manipulation. We received a complaint so the Fiji FA executive board decided to appoint a three member committee who will investigate on the matter. The Tavua officials and players will be questioned and it may also include other districts officials involved in the matter.”

Tavua and Labasa football officials have confirmed they have not received anything in writing from the Fiji Football Association as yet.

Meanwhile, three matches will be played in the Vodafone Premier League on Sunday. At 3pm, Rewa plays Tavua at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori, Ba faces Lautoka at Govind Park and Nadi hosts Suva at Prince Charles Park.
