Tavua College sprinter aims for Suva Challenge Marathon race

Over 30 teams are gearing up to take part in the 2019 Munro Leys Suva Challenge Marathon race.

With only two days to go, the race will feature half marathon and mixed team marathon.

Race Director Gina Houng Lee says the community event is and inclusive sport that promotes healthy living.

“We already have expressions of interests from serious and fun runners including participants with disabilities. We are encouraging more participants to register, as we will have a safe course with full road closure. Our marshals and volunteers will be briefed to ensure support throughout the morning.”

Francis Chung, the first athlete with disability who crossed the full marathon line in 2014 will also be taking part.

The race will also feature Coke Games gold medalist Yeshnil Karan with his friends from Tavua College.

The women and men’s half marathon (22km) starts at 6.00am on Saturday and the mixed team marathon starts at 7am.

The marathon course runs along the Nasese seawall and Thurston Garden in Suva.
