Tailevu Naitasiri to play in promotion relegation

October 28, 2012 6:01 pm

Tailevu Naitasiri are the Fiji Sun GP Batteries National Football League Premier Division champions after defeating Taveuni 4-1 on penalty shootout at Subrail Park in Labasa.

The two teams were evenly matched as they ended the game goalless and it took the dreaded penalty shootout to decide the winner.

Tailevu Naitasiri coach Tagi Vonalagi says more needs to be done by football’s parent body when it comes to the Premier Division.

“We have been champions three years in a row, and I only wish that we have the trophy here. For three years, there’s no trophy for Premier division, so much for the hype on changing the format and everything. There’s no trophy and on top of that coming to Vanua Levu to play home game for taveuni is very hard for us, and we have to struggle since we don’t have any sponsors.”

The win gives Tailevu Naitasiri an opportunity to play in the promotion relegation and step into the top flight of soccer in Fiji.
