Suva Volleyball partners with FWCC to host tournament

The Suva Volleyball Association together with the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre is today hosting a volleyball tournament.

This is to create awareness on eliminating violence and discrimination against women and children.

General Secretary Semaima Lagilagi says the Suva volleyball association has seen the effectiveness of sports on breaking gender stereotypes.

“We as sports administrative has seen the effectiveness of creating awareness on the elimination of violence against women. Like she said this morning the 64% is very high for a country like ours so us Suva Volleyball is going to continue to work with the crisis center using sports as a tool to advocate against gender inequality and discrimination.”

 The volleyball tournament is currently underway at the Suva Grammar grounds where 6 men’s team and 4 women’s team compete for a $500 prize money.
