October 19, 2012 8:03 pm

The city of Suva is expected to come to a standstill as the capital’s football side celebrates its Courts IDC win today.

Suva was awarded the IDC trophy after the final against Ba was abandoned with the Whites leading 1-0.

This ended the 28-year wait for the capital side, and Suva football president Mahen Prasad says all the people of Suva should join in.

“I request all the fans of Suva to wear white and show respect to the team, which has won not only two titles this year, but three trophies. Apart from the Vodafone Fiji FACT and Courts IDC, we have also won the RC Manubhai Cup against Lautoka. So I request all the public to come in big numbers to support their team – the Suva team and show respect to the team.”

A march will take place through the streets of the capital from 10am from the Suva Flea Market to Ratu Sukuna Park.

At the park, the 2012 Courts IDC prize giving will take place.

Later in the evening, there will be an awards night for the Suva players and officials at Civic Centre.
