Suva records win in last pool match

The Suva football side recorded a 3-1 win over New Caledonia’s AS Lossi in the Oceania Football Confederations Champions League in New Zealand today.

Setareki Hughes scored twice and set up another for Rusiate Matererega as the whites leave the tournament with three points.

Both Suva and Nadi have bowed out the competition meaning only one team from Fiji will take part in the competition next year.

Meanwhile, OFC’s Disciplinary Committee has upheld a protest lodged by Amicale FC against the eligibility of a player in the Solomon Warriors following the teams’ 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

In accordance with Article 42.2a of the 2016 OFC Champions League Regulations the player in question was found ineligible to play for the Solomon Warriors in this tournament.

Therefore, in accordance with Article 42.4 of the OFC Champions League Regulations and Article 32A and Article 73 of the OFC Disciplinary Code, the OFC Disciplinary Committee has declared that Solomon Warriors fielded an ineligible player against Amicale FC on 13 April.

Accordingly the Solomon Warriors have forfeited the match with victory and the resultant three points being awarded to Amicale FC along with a score of 3-0.
