Suva gives credit to coach and players

September 15, 2014 6:31 pm

The Suva soccer team has credited its success in this year’s Fiji Sun/ Skipper Tuna National Football League to its hardworking coach and players.

Association President Mahen Prasad says the title win wouldn’t have been possible without the player’s dedication and hard work.

“It’s the commitment of the players, how the players are committed. From the starting of the National league we have seen that we have not been changing many players. In the window too we changed very few players but the constant of the players playing the national league which has led in winning the National League and also the credit should go to our coach Gurjit Singh who has got the formation done with the Suva team.”

Suva won 11 out of its 13 matches in the league this season scoring 23 goals in total and conceded only nine.

Meanwhile, Labasa and Nadi played out a nil-all drawing a league match last night.

This means Labasa is now out of contention for a second place finish, while Nadi and Ba will battle to finish second and join Suva in the OFC Champions League next year.
