Suva eyes Champions League berth

The Suva soccer team has set its sight to be the first team from the Central Division to qualify for the Oceania Football Confederation Champions League next season.

Suva soccer president Mahen Prasad says his team has started training from yesterday and morale is high within the team for next week’s Fiji Sun/Skipper Tuna National Football League match against Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants champions Rewa.

Suva needs a win in this match to secure a spot in the Champions League.

Prasad adds that Pita Rabo has taken over the coaching duties with coach Gurjeet Singh away overseas but is expected to join the side next Wednesday.

Prasad says his team wants to maintain the lead on the points table with only Rewa, Lautoka and Ba left to play.

Suva is scheduled to play Rewa at 7.30pm next Wednesday at Ratu Cakobau Park.
