Suva dominates Fiji Games

Hundreds of athletes braved the wet and windy conditions within the greater Suva area to participate at the 2019 Fiji Games in the Easter-long- weekend.

Suva dominated most sports which included archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, billiard and snooker, boxing, darts, golf, powerlifting, sailing, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, indoor volleyball and weightlifting.

Suva had a total of 60 gold medals, 75 silver and 53 bronze with closet rival being Nadi with 28 gold, 22 silver and 23 bronze medals and in third place was Rotuma with 28 gold, 13 silver and 13 bronze medals.

FASANOC Chief Executive Officer Lorraine Mar says Games have been used to allow national selectors for various sports to select athletes for the Pacific Games.
