ONOC president Doctor Robin Mitchell says this is perfect platform for the NOCs from around the region to build up for upcoming events.

“I think at the moment the focus is on PNG. Its our Olympics so to speak because it’s our biggest teams that go to the Olympic Games. So most of the teams are here to use the Olympics experience to PNG. Team sizes like 400 plus are going so it’s a big event for us and then Rio.”

The IOC president Thomas Bach will also be in the country from Thursday for the assembly.
