Sports administrators meet in Suva

April 28, 2015 12:02 am

Sports administrators from around the region have begun their meetings in Suva today ahead of the ONOC General Assembly to be held on Saturday.

Today the respective NOCs took part in the Olympic Forum in the build to the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Delegates were told about the processes that will be involved in Brazil next year and how each association needs to work to ensure a smooth sailing preparation phase.

ONOC president Doctor Robin Mitchell says this is perfect platform for the NOCs from around the region to build up for upcoming events.

“I think at the moment the focus is on PNG. Its our Olympics so to speak because it’s our biggest teams that go to the Olympic Games. So most of the teams are here to use the Olympics experience to PNG. Team sizes like 400 plus are going so it’s a big event for us and then Rio.”

The IOC president Thomas Bach will also be in the country from Thursday for the assembly.
