Spain wary of Moroccan surprise in group finale

June 25, 2018 4:33 am

Spain would seem to have the easier task in trying to clinch a spot in the World Cup knockout round in their final Group B match tomorrow against Morocco.

Morocco has yet to earn a point but that is not how the Spanish coach Fernando Hierro see things.

Morocco was the first team eliminated from the World Cup group stage and will head home after the match.

Reuters.com reports, the Moroccan players will also be relaxed since they are only playing for pride making it hard for Hierro to implement a game plan against a team that may change their playbook and offer up something completely unexpected.

Spain, on four points after drawing 3-3 with Portugal and beating Iran 1-0, need a draw to guarantee their progress to the last 16 but will be looking to win and outscore Portugal, who face Iran, in case goal difference decides who finishes top.

Spain plays Morocco at 6am tomorrow.
