Sowakula ready to play in-front of his family

The heartwarming smiles and welcoming faces from his family will definitely boost 26-year-old Pita Gus Sowakula to earn a spot in the Chiefs starting line-up for the Chiefs rugby team in their super rugby clash in Suva this weekend.

Close relatives, and fans gathered at the Nausori International Airport to welcome the team this afternoon.

The Tagaqe, Nadroga native says he is here on a mission with his side when they play Highlanders on Saturday.

He says he is eager to don the jersey and play in front of his family.

“Actually I was shocked to be part of the squad and I’m really thankful that I’m here to play in front of my family and fans. Seeing my family here waiting for us is overwhelming and I can’t wait for Saturday.”

Meanwhile, the Highlanders rugby team arrives tomorrow.

The Highlanders host the Chiefs on Saturday at 7.35pm at Suva’s ANZ Stadium.
