The Gallagher Chiefs rugby team has roped in another Fijian player to be part of their pre-season campaign as a build up towards the super rugby season that kicks-off next week.

Twenty three year old Pita Sowakula was part of the Chiefs line-up last weekend when they lost to the Auckland Blues 45-19 in the Rural Legends shield challenge.

The lengthy forward caught the attention of the selectors during the Mitre 10 cup competition last year reaching the semi-finals.

Sowakula who played for the Hideaway Hurricanes sevens team in local tournaments was also part of Ben Ryan’s squad for the 2015, Hong Kong sevens and 2016 Las Vegas tournament.

The Nadroga lad hopes to make the final line-up for the Chiefs rugby team and be part of this year’s super rugby season.

The Gallagher Chiefs squad will be confirmed next week before they face the Crusaders on the 24th of this month at Canterbury’s AMI Stadium.
