World Rugby has presented Sonny Bill Williams with a new winners’ medal after he gave his away in the moments following yesterday’s Rugby World Cup final victory against Australia.

Williams handed his medal to 15-year-old Charlie Lines after the youngster was floored by a security guard having run on to the field to greet the All Blacks during their lap of honour.

The child’s family later offered Williams his medal back but he said the memories were enough.

The act received widespread acclaim from around the world and the game’s organizing body marked the sign of generosity by handing Williams a replacement medal earlier this morning at their awards.
