Somosomo Sharks secure Ucunipotu 7s semifinal spot

Somosomo Sharks put up a good fight to secure a spot in the Huawei Ucunipotu 7s semi final.

The Taveuni Side opened the 2nd quarter final match against Wailevu with a try within the first five minutes. This was successfully converted.

They led 7- nil before Wailevu equalized with a try a minute later but the conversion was unsuccessful.

Another try to Somosomo Sharks saw them lead Wailevu 12- 5 at half time.

Wailevu crossed the try line after the first half increasing their points to 10.

Somosomo Sharks failed to register a try in the second half but were given two yellow cards.

At the final whistle, Somosomo Sharks were up 12 to Wailevu 10.

In other matches, Westerland Natadra thrashed Domoniwai 19- nil in their quarter final encounter.

Queensland Reds winger Filipp Daugunu jotted down the first points for the team with an easy try to the corner.

Another try minutes later saw the team head into half time leading Domoniwai 12 – nil.

A try in the second half sealed the game for Westerland Natadra.

Faith Generation Brothers struggled to beat a strong Eagles side 7-0.

They only managed a try in the first half of the game.

In the first quarter final, Nasagale Babas put on a brilliant performance to beat the Natakala side 22- 5.

The plate semi finals are currently underway.
