Skipper Cup semis confirmed

July 2, 2018 12:33 am

The Fiji Rugby Union has confirmed the semifinals of the Skipper Cup will be held this weekend with defending champions Nadroga playing Naitasiri and Suva faces Namosi.

Suva topped the Skipper Cup table with 29 points, followed by Nadroga and Naitasiri on 23 points while Namosi finished fourth with 22.

FRU CEO John O’Connor says the competitiveness of the game has seen Nadroga been taken to the wire by Rewa in its last round robin match but he expects the Stallions to rise to the occasion during its semi-final against Naitasiri.

“They’ve been the defending Champions for some time now but this year due to the competitiveness of the competition they’ve been taken to the wire, but the semi-finals will be a different ball game and we know Nadroga will rise to the occasion when they defend their trophy.”

Meanwhile, FRU is to yet confirm the day and the venue of the semifinals.
