SJSS crowned Secondary Schools Hockey champions

Saint Joseph’s Secondary School under 19 girl’s team was crowned today as the new under 19 champions of the Tuckers Fiji Secondary School Hockey championships at the National Hockey Center in Suva.

The ladies from Waimanu road were too strong for Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswami Memorial College in the final out scoring their opponents 2 nil.

Saint Joseph’s Hockey coach Alice Crocker says the team’s bond and skills won them the game.

“I think it’s the skills their team was stronger and fitter than ours and also the main thing is team bonding if there was no team bonding everyone would be playing individually.”

Meanwhile in the other grades SSKMC took out the under 16 girl’s grade beating Saint John’s College 1 nil.

Marist Brothers High School took out the under 16 boys against Saint John’s College in a penalty Shootout 2-1.

In the under 19 boys Natabua High School successfully defended their title 1 nil against Marist Brothers High School.
