Six players have been chosen by AFL Fiji to represent the Pacific at the Queensland State Academy competition in Australia in May.

These six players were selected during the Oceania Cup in December.

Development Manager Simon Highfield says they are happy with the selection of these players as they have proven themselves in local competitions.

“It’s really exciting for Fiji to have six young under 16 year old playing for the South Pacific team last year and the year before we had three selected and on the back Fiji actually wining the Oceania in the under 15 level we’ve had six selected and its fantastic to and am really excited for those boys they are very very competitive we just need to work on our skills and our game as far as fitness and strength commitment as far this is concerned.”

Highfield adds it shows the level of development in Fiji.

“It gets to show the development of the sport in Fiji obviously we have been doing a hard work we have been getting some great supports from the Fiji National Sports commission and from the Australian government I guess we have been doing the hard work in the grass root level.”

The 2018 Queensland State Academy competition will be held the first week of May.
