Singh steps down as Suva coach

Suva football coach Gurjit Singh has stepped down from his position.

Singh took up the role in 2012 and since has guided his team to five
local tournament finals, winning three.

He helped Suva win the 2012 Fiji FACT title, its first in 17 years, as the whites also won the Inter District title later that year after a lapse of 29 years.

Singh also guided the capital city side to its first ever OFC Champions League tournament in 2014, a tournament they played in the following year as well.

“I’m set for five years and I’ve done quite good while coaching Suva. I joined when Suva was not winning any tournament for years and that the time I was approached by the President Amendra Prasad and I’m happy that we won some tournament.

He has also coached Tailevu Naitasiri, Navua and Lautoka.

Singh was the national coach in 2011 for a short span of time.
