Walsh praises Longbottom and Anstee ahead of HK 7s

April 1, 2019 12:02 pm

Australia 7s head coach Tim Walsh says the return of Maurice Longbottom and Tim Anstee in the side will boost their performance in the Hong Kong tournament this weekend.

Longbottom hurt his hamstring in the Sydney 7s in February while Anstee injured his ankle in Dubai and has been called in by Coach Walsh for Hong Kong.

Walsh says the two players return would be handy for the side, who have struggled for consistency.

“Maurice is one of the most exciting attacking 7s players in the world so it’s a big asset to have him and Tim is slowly becoming a veteran and he’s in his 30s and grabbing up some caps and to have them both back is good.”

Australia sit sixth in the World Series rankings with four legs left of the 2018 19 World Series.

Australia takes on Fiji, New Zealand and Kenya in Hong Kong.
