The 7s tournament in the USA has usually had a surprise winner since its inception in 2004.

Argentina was the inaugural winner when the tournament was held in Los Angeles 14 years ago.

Samoa has won it twice in 2010 and 2012 while host USA is the defending Las Vegas 7s champions.

The Fiji Airways men’s 7s side has won the tournament three times in 2007, 2015 and 16.

The Gareth Baber coached side will put all its effort to claim its third title of the season after winning the Cape Town and Hamilton tournaments earlier in the season.

Baber is expected to name his key players like skipper Kalione Nasoko, Jerry Tuwai, Vilimoni Botitu, Aminiasi Tuimaba and Meli Derenalagi in the 13-member squad.

Fiji is pooled with Australia, Scotland and Wales for the Las Vegas 7s.
