20-year-old Fiji 7s rep Meli Derenalagi says win in Cape Town this morning has built their spirit to keep the fight on in the remaining World Rugby 7s leg next year.
Derenalagi says their 29-19 triumph over USA in the final was possible through team work, tearing down the Eagle’s attack.
It was really tough but we managed to work together as a team like we always say don’t let our brother get behind. Our win today will give us the spirit to keep doing better for the future.
Meanwhile, the next tournament will be held in Hamilton.
Fiji is pooled with Australia, Argentina and Wales in Pool A of the Hamilton 7s which will be played in New Zealand next month.
