SOUTH AFRICA 7S TEAM
South Africa 7s coach Neil Powel says they need to strengthen their contact skills if they are to match up to Fiji and New Zealand in Hamilton this weekend.
Powel says they are wary of the physicality of the Fijian and the New Zealand sides and they are working hard to combat their fierce attacks.
“If you look physically at the size of our players compared to Fiji and New Zealand we definitely need to work a lot harder on our contact skills and our physicality to make sure that we dominant in a situation like that.”
The South Africa 7s side is pooled with Scotland, France, and Kenya.
Meanwhile, Powel has named a strong squad in their bid to win their first title in the series this weekend.
Powel named strong forwards like Philip Snyman, Chris Dry, Kyle Brown and Werner Kok in the squad.
Stylish playmaker Cecil Afrika has been dropped but players like Branco du Preez and Justin Geduld have been included.
