The New Zealand 7s side received the UL Mark of Excellence Award in the Hong Kong tournament in remembrance of the horrific Christchurch mosques shooting.
Captain Scott Curry received the award on behalf of the team and the people of New Zealand.
Curry reflected how the Fiji 7s team showed solidarity to them before their final pool match kicked off.
“I guess in moments like that it’s a lot bigger than rugby and it’s good that the team can come together the team showed a little mark of respect and we really appreciated that and if we can bring that together because at the end of the day we all human no matter what race and religion and we come together as one I think something good can come out.”
