Making it two from two a difficult task says Baber

Fiji Airways men’s 7’s coach Gareth Baber believes it’s difficult to win two titles in the leg knowing the amount of work the players do in a tournament.

Baber says the Fiji 7’s side played six matches and around 90 minutes of tough rugby in-order to win the Hamilton 7’s last weekend.

He adds they have always excelled in the second tournament but he does not promise a win this weekend.

“It is very difficult to repeat performances as there is a huge amount of fatigue or effort the players go through in the first tournament. We have raised with the players, the players know that last year the number of our tournaments was won in the second leg.”

The Fiji 7’s side was bundled out of the Cup quarterfinals last year after losing 24-7 to the USA.

The side then lost to New Zealand by 31-7 in the fifth place play-off.Fiji is pooled with Samoa, England, and Japan in this year’s tournament which will be played at the Spotless Stadium from today.
