Ministry of Youth and Sports Permanent Secretary Maretino Nemani says Fijians should rally behind our Fiji Airways 7s heroes.

The Gareth Baber-coached side is set to meet Australia and New Zealand later this afternoon.

Nemani says winning the Hong Kong title fifth year in a row will be a milestone for Fiji that should be celebrated.

Nemani stresses the importance of showing support in true Fijian spirit and avoid passing derogatory remarks to Fijian players.

He says playing at the 7s capital is not easy and he believes Fiji can retain the title for the 5th year in a row.

“We need to rally behind the Fiji team and I’m also confident that we will make the 5 years in a row and that would be fantastic if we can do that and we can have a small celebration later on. But well wishes to the sevens team and to the fans back home, let’s rally behind our Fiji 7s team.”

Meanwhile, Fiji needs another win in order to secure a quarter-final spot tomorrow.

Fiji will meet Australia at 5.13pm today, before taking on New Zealand at 8.55pm
