Last season’s World Series triumph especially the back to back wins in Paris and London was special for the Fiji 7s side says Captain Paula Dranisinukula.

He says it is something that will give them the much-needed motivation going into the new season especially in Dubai.

Dranisinikula says they are more worried about the Dubai 7s then the Olympics even though they have qualified.

‘People back home were really happy about the boys and we also did history there winning back to back for so long time when Fiji started playing rugby 7s and yes we did people back home proud and happy’.

Only three places remain to be confirmed for rugby 7s at the Olympic Games in Japan next year.

There is only one spot left in the men’s and two for the women’s which makes the 2019/2020 series even more interesting.

Meanwhile, Kavekini Tabu will make his World Rugby Sevens Series debut for Fiji in Dubai tomorrow.

The Yamacia forward is in Gareth Baber’s final 12 member squad for the tournament named this morning.

The 25-year-old will team up with his elder brothers Isoa and Sevuloni Mocenacagi who have also made the cut.

Napolioni Ratu has been named as the 13th player while Apenisa Cakaubalavu will not feature in Dubai.

The Fiji Men’s 7s side meets Japan at 4:02 am tomorrow.

Their second pool match is at 10:04pm tomorrow as well against Argentina and France at 4:02am on Saturday.
