Good start for us: Mikkelson

ALL BLACKS 7S CAPTAIN TIM MIKKELSON

The All Blacks are determined to leave their mark in the Hamilton 7s tournament this weekend.

The side secured a 52-0 win over Japan in its opening match.

Returning captain Tim Mikkelson says it is a good feeling to start the tournament with the win and the crowd really boosted their performance.

“Pretty nervous and I’ve been away for a while and good to start well and it’s good to see our family in the crowd and others partying and drinking watching us, its awesome crowd.”

He adds they are motivated by what will hopefully be their first win at home this weekend since 2016.

In other matches played earlier today, Scotland beat France 26-21, South African defeated Kenya 29-10, Samoa upset England 12-10, and the USA beat Tonga 29-10, Australia won 17-12 against Argentina, Span held Canada at 12-all.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways men’s 7s side will  take on Argentina in its second pool match at 2.42pm and plays Australia in its last pool match at 6.52pm.

The Cup quarter-final begins at 10.36am tomorrow, Cup semifinal starts at 3.16pm and the final is scheduled for 7.10pm.
