Fijiana 7s Captain Rusila Nagasau and Lavenia Tinai say they are still in awe after qualifying for the 2021 Rugby World Cup for the first time ever in history.

This was after they defeated Manusina Samoa 41-13 in the Oceania Rugby Women’s Championship in Lautoka last Saturday.

Speaking to World Rugby, Nagasau says the World Cup qualifier was their main aim since missing out in 2016.

She adds qualifying for the 15s Rugby World Cup was the biggest achievement of the team and they look forward to playing the likes of five-time champions New Zealand, England, Australia, Canada and France.

The duo adds having the support of the home crowd boosted the team’s morale and their aim to inspire women and young girls in rugby took them further.

Their qualification to the Rugby World Cup 2021 in New Zealand has set the standard for the development of women’s rugby in Fiji.

Both players will feature for the Fijiana at the Dubai 7s which starts tonight.

The Fijiana will play all their pool games tomorrow starting with Australia at 12:12am, they will then meet Spain at 6pm before taking on Ireland at 11:12 pm.
