The Fiji Airways Fijiana sevens team lost out in the ninth place semi-final at the World Sevens Series in USA.
The side which had lost all its pool games was beaten 21-19 by Japan in the challenge semis.
The team managed to score three tries apiece but the conversions made a difference in the end.
Fiji’s tries came from Luisa Tisolo, Vasiti Solikoviti and Raijeli Daveua.

Meanwhile, Australia defeated Team USA 26-7 in the final to win the Glendale 7s.
New Zealand defeated France 31-14 to take the Bronze final.

The team will travel back to Fiji and prepare for the next leg of the series the Dubai 7s in December.
