Fiji wants to break its Sydney 7s drought

The Fiji Airways 7s side will bank on the “sea of blue” to break its Sydney 7s drought this weekend.

Baber revealed how much his team draws from their fans around the world especially what they had experienced in Hamilton over the weekend.

“In Vancouver, London and Paris and list goes on how much support we have and Sydney is the next one that we going to do and to have that level of support its phenomenal for the players and it’s great for them to see the blue color in the stadium and I want to see that again in Sydney but it’s not in my control and its certainly give us a major boost.”

Fiji has never won the Sydney leg of the world 7s series in the three years it’s been hosted in the Harbour City.

Fiji is pooled with Samoa, England, and Japan.

The Fiji 7s side begins its campaign against Japan at 12.34pm this Saturday, then faces England at 6.02pm and plays Samoa in its final pool match at 10.07pm.

The Cup quarter-final kicks off at 1.16pm on Sunday, semi-final at 5.16pm while the cup final is scheduled for 9.54pm.
