Fiji qualifies for Las Vegas Cup Quarterfinals

The Fiji Airways men’s 7s side has booked a spot in the Las Vegas Cup Quarterfinal after defeating Wales 33-14 in their second pool match this afternoon.

Mesulame Kunavula, Jerry Tuwai, and Waisea Nacuqu crossed the Welsh’s whitewash in the first half to lead 19-7 at half time.

Alasio Naduva and Paula Dranisinukula scored a try each for Fiji in the second spell to extend their lead 33-14.

In other matches, England beat Japan 22-5, Chile held South Africa 5-all, France defeated Kenya 31-7, Samoa beat Spain 26-12.

Barring any upset, Fiji will meet series leaders New Zealand either in the cup quarterfinals or semi-final.

Fiji had earlier beaten Scotland 36-12 in its opening pool game.

Meanwhile, Fiji will meet Australia at 7.52am tomorrow in its last pool match.

The Cup quarters will begin at 1.46pm tomorrow, semis at 9.12am next Monday and the Cup final will be played at 12.30pm.
