The Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team could not make it through to the Dubai 7s cup quarterfinals despite beating France 24-14 in its final pool match.
The Gareth Baber coached side had to beat France by a margin of 18 points but they only managed to beat France with a margin of ten points.
Fiji will now face Canada at 1.06 tomorrow morning for the 9th place play-off.

Fiji had to come from 0-14 down to get the win.
France led 14-0 in first four minutes of the match with tries from Marvin O’Connor and Terry Bouhraoua.

Waisea Nacuqu put Fiji into the scoresheet just before halftime for a 7-14 scoreline at the breather.
Fiji came back strongly after the breather and struck immediately with a Aminiasi Tuimaba try.
The Paula Dranisinukula led side scored two tries to Jerry Tuwai and Alasio Naduva.

France has qualified as winners from Pool A and will face England in the first cup quarterfinals at 8:14pm tonight.
In other cup quarterfinal matches tonight, New Zealand will take on USA at 8:36pm, South Africa will face Argentina at 8:58pm and Australia will face Samoa at 9:20pm.
