Dranisinukula out of the Hamilton 7s due to injury

January 11, 2019 12:15 pm

Fiji Airways mens 7s Coach Gareth Baber says robust forward Paula Dranisinukula will be heavily missed when they go in to defend their title in the Hamilton tournament in two weeks-time.

Dranisinukula will miss out the tournament after not being cleared from an injury he suffered before the opening leg in Dubai.

Baber says players like Dranisinukula and others played a vital role in their 24-17 win over South Africa in the final last year.

“Particularly remember the likes of Paula Dranisinukula bursting out of 22, Josua Vakurunabili making big hits near the touch line and Eroni Sau was playing with us at that stage. We need to get that balance between the pace of the game that we need ensuring that we look after the ball and delivering that power which teams struggle to cope with when we get it right.”

Fiji is pooled with Australia, Argentina and Wales in the Hamilton 7s which will be held on the 26th and 27th of this month in New Zealand.
