“It is important for the players to understand that discipline stays in position.”

This was the sentiments of Fiji Airways men’s 7s coach Gareth Baber from Vancouver this morning as they prepare for the Vancouver tournament this weekend.

Baber says they have set a rule in the team and it has to be followed accordingly.

He says one good example was Olympic gold medalist Vatemo Ravouvou who was disciplined and was dropped out of the team.

The Welshman says they will not tolerate indiscipline players.

“We have some discipline put in place for the group generally. Vatemo Ravouvou is an Olympian player and it disappoint me that I ended up in a situation where I had to drop him from the squad for discipline reasons. I think it’s important for these group of players to see that discipline stays in position. It is important for us to see leadership in the group and we stick to the decision that we made.”

Fiji plays Kenya in its first pool match at 6.36am Sunday and will then take on Canada at 10.08am before meeting Samoa in its last pool match at 2.02pm.

You can watch the entire tournament live on FBC TV.
