Fiji 7s Coach Gareth Baber

Fiji 7s Coach Gareth Baber says he will be releasing some players to play in the Marist 7s at ANZ Stadium tomorrow.

However, Baber is wary of releasing players due to chances of sustaining injuries from the tournament.

Baber adds it is important that players don’t pick up an injury ahead of the Hong Kong Sevens next month.

“Some of them will be, yeah. Obviously, there’s a need to ensure that they don’t pick injuries with the amount of training that they have done this week. We know the amount of work we need to do coming into Hong Kong. The players need to be at that level so there’s always a danger that you release players back as they’ve done a good degree of work with us.”

The Hong Kong 7s will be held from the 5th to the 7th of next month.

Fiji is top seeds in Pool C and faces rivals New Zealand, Australia and Kenya.
