Fiji Airways 7s coach Gareth Baber is hoping Captain Kalione Nasoko will recover in time for Hong Kong and Singapore sevens next month.

Nasoko sustained cartilage damage to his knee from the team’s last outing in Vancouver.

Coach Gareth Baber says it is important his players get enough rest and not run the risk of sustaining major injuries.

“Similarly, Kali has been pushing himself in terms of his rehab and he’ll continue to do that BUT I’m hopeful that if not Hong Kong than possibly Singapore but again- we’ll keep working on him. He’s a great man and a great leader and I want him on my team.”

Meanwhile, Baber is expected to name his 13 member squad for Hong Kong this week before they depart on Thursday.

Fiji is pooled with Australia, New Zealand, and Kenya.

Fiji meets Kenya at 11.37pm next Friday in its opening pool match, they will then play Australia at 5.13pm Saturday before taking on New Zealand at 8.55pm Saturday.

The Hong Kong 7s will run through the 5th to the 7th of next month.
